Snikiddy Snacks Are Healthy Snack Foods for Kids (and Adults too!) #giveaway

snikiddy healthy snack foodsWe try to keep a variety of healthy snack foods in our house. Obviously, I always try to steer LJ to fruits and vegetables first, but sometimes a little treat-type snack is called for.  I’ve been trying to learn as much as I can about what healthy snack foods are available AND which ones LJ will actually eat.  One of my new favorites are from Snikiddy.

They meet my criteria for healthy snack foods:

  • They are made from non-GMO ingredients.
  • They are gluten and wheat free. (Not an issue for us, but for several of LJ’s friends.)
  • They do not have any artificial colors or preservatives.
  • They do not contain high fructose corn syrup, trans fats, MSG, or hydrogenated oils.

They meet LJ’s criteria for snack foods:

  • They are YUMMY!!

The All-Natural Cheese Puffs and All-Natural Baked Fries contain half the fat of regular potato chips and Eat Your Vegetables have a full serving of vegetables in every ounce!  Not bad for a snack food, right??  Our personal favorite are the Grilled Cheese Puffs!

LJ and the First Snow (and snow pants that will grow with him)

We had our first snow of the season yesterday. After a few days that teased with flurries that fell but didn’t stick, we finally got that white blanket that (just barely) covered the trees, yard, and everything else.  LJ was chomping at the bit to build a snowman, even though Jay and I kept telling him there wasn’t going to be enough snow to build anything.

He was so excited to prove us wrong and quickly created a miniature snowman on the patio in no time.

This first snow gave us a chance to try out LJ’s new Squall Snow Pants that were sent to us by Lands’ End. I personally love that these pants come with a knee guarantee which means that he WON’T be wearing through the knees first this year! LJ seems to spend a lot of tme on the ground, walking on his knees and sitting on the snow. The PolarThin insulation means he will be warm without a lot of extra bulk and the double layered knees and seat mean he won’t be wearing through the pants anytime soon.

The Squall line comes in bib or pant style and has matching parkas as well.  They are available in sizes 2T through 20, so kids of all ages can find one that fits!

I also love that these Squall pants have the unique Grow-A-Long feature. (This is one of the reasons I absolutely LOVE Lands’ End Squall products!!) If your kid is anything like mine, they are growing like a weed and pants become highwaters in no time.  The Grow-A-Long feature allows for this by hiding a well-disguised hem in the pants. When they become too short, simply remove the easy to find red thread and *presto* you have another two inches!! (The jackets have this feature in the sleeves as well!)  Brilliant!!!!

It’s not too late to grab some Squall Snow Pants (and maybe even a jacket), especially while Lands’ End is running their current sale – 30% off everything and free shipping over $50.  Use the promo code “DASHER” and pin 9010.

We received a pair of snow pants to review from Lands’ End. All opinions are my own (or that of the mini snowman now staring at me from the patio).

I’m A Chicago Cutlery Ambassador!

I’m going to let you see something few people have seen.  Promise not to tell anyone? It’s my knife drawer and it’s a MESS!!  You see, Jay and I didn’t register for knives when we got married. I can’t remember if we didn’t think of it or just didn’t think it was important…I’m not sure.  All I know is we started off in our first apartment with a full set of silverware, plates, glasses, small appliances, and no knives (except for the butter knives that came with the silverware).

So we went out and picked up a set of steak knives and used those to cook with for way too many years. Eventually, we bought a house and started inviting people over for dinner. We figured that we’d better buy a few knives, but cheaped out and got them from either local yard sales or our local big box store bargain bin.  Soon, we had a drawer full of knives – a bunch were duplicates, most I had no idea how to use, and many were not the best quality.

And all of that became THIS.

messy knife drawer review

The sad part was, I had a drawer full of knives but still had a heck of a time slicing anything!  The knives tore anything the least bit delicate to shreds – cutting tomatoes was a disaster.  I figured having a few good knives could replace having a full drawer of so-so knives. And I was right!

Chicago Cutlery sent me three top quality knives to try out.  I received the 8″ Chef knife, the 7″ Santoku, and the 5″ Partoku.  Already I am kicking myself for not investing in good knives sooner!

I hope you’ll check back as I share how I am using these knives to make my cooking time more productive and less stressful.  Next time I will even share a few recipes I’ve been making!

I wrote this review while participating in a Brand Ambassador Campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Chicago Cutlery and received products to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
