Koss Launches Earbuds Made For Women’s Ears (review and giveaway)

koss logoI love listening to music while I work out.  Since my favorite workout at the moment is walking, I rely on music or audiobooks to keep me entertained while I am strolling around the neighborhood.  I have noticed that most of the ear pieces out there feel great when you first put them in, but then get increasingly uncomfortable as time goes on.  I hate being halfway through my walk and having to take out my earbuds because I just can’t stand them anymore. Know what I mean?

When the folks at Koss contacted me to invite me to the product launch for their new FitSeries made just for women, I had to say yes.  (You are probably already familiar with Koss, a local family-owned Milwaukee company, as they have been known for inventing the first stereophones and have been creating fabulous products since 1953.)  Dara Torres, 12 time Olympic medalist, mom, and music enthusiast, was instrumental in creating a design that is comfortable for women to wear but does not skimp on sound.

The FitSeries products include FitBuds and FitClips.   FitBuds are similar to traditional earbuds, but 33%smaller.  I received a pair to try and quickly fell in love with them.  They came with three different size “cushions” so I was able to get a perfect fit.  I’ve worn them on several of my longer walks and would have forgotten I had them in except for the great sound they produced!  FitClips are perfect for more active athletes who need a little more stability while they are bouncing around. Both FitBuds and FitClips come in a variety of fun colors and are sweat proof.

The launch event included a 45 minute spin class led by Dara Torres (which I unfortunately could not stay for since I had to go back to work) where the participants got a chance to try out the FitClips. I snapped a few pics as I was leaving and even got to say hi to my favorite Real Milwaukee hosts, Katrina Cravy and Nicole Koglin!

Murder Mystery Dinner Provides Fun and Laughs in Milwaukee (review and giveaway)

murder mystery dinner milwaukeeA few weeks ago, Jay and I were invited to attend a Murder Mystery Dinner by the Murder Mystery Dinner Co. at Serb Hall in Milwaukee.  Neither of us had ever been to one and we were curious how it would work and if we would enjoy it.  We accepted two complimentary tickets and headed off to check it out with open minds.

When we arrived, we were escorted to a large round table that seated eight, kind of like at a wedding. We noticed some interesting items on the table – one was a sheet translating all of the terms we might hear during the show. I should mention that the theme of the evening was a high school prom held in the fifties.  We also found a lot of fake money in a variety of denominations.

Shortly, one of the cast members came by our table and the next thing we knew, Jay was a character in the performance.  Even better than that, he was a suspect!  His name was “Lemme Tinkle” and his role was the class clown (can we say typecasting???).  Jay was given a binder with some clues and also some added information that no one else was privy to.

The show began and before we knew it, sure enough – someone was murdered.  The victim turned out to be the class president and there seemed to be quite a few folks scattered around who might have been the murderer.  The audience was tasked with finding out who had committed the dastardly deed.  The audience could ask suspects questions and even pay money for additional information.  The cast stopped us occasionally and gave us added information to ponder when deciding who it might have been.

The evening was a LOT of fun!  We had some great tablemates which definitely added to the antics. The whole experience was much more interactive than I had thought it would be.  There was very little “acting” by the cast and more interacting with the audience which made it very engaging.

The food was okay – the Salisbury steak did remind me of high school so maybe that was intentional. But you don’t attend a show like this for the food, right?  Jay and I had a blast and would definitely attend another Murder Mystery Dinner Co. production!

Have I made you curious about Murder Mystery Dinners??  Thanks to the Murder Mystery Dinner Co., I am giving one lucky Wisconsin Mommy reader two tickets to a Murder Mystery Dinner!!

I received two tickets to check out the performance in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Snikiddy Snacks Are Healthy Snack Foods for Kids (and Adults too!) #giveaway

snikiddy healthy snack foodsWe try to keep a variety of healthy snack foods in our house. Obviously, I always try to steer LJ to fruits and vegetables first, but sometimes a little treat-type snack is called for.  I’ve been trying to learn as much as I can about what healthy snack foods are available AND which ones LJ will actually eat.  One of my new favorites are from Snikiddy.

They meet my criteria for healthy snack foods:

  • They are made from non-GMO ingredients.
  • They are gluten and wheat free. (Not an issue for us, but for several of LJ’s friends.)
  • They do not have any artificial colors or preservatives.
  • They do not contain high fructose corn syrup, trans fats, MSG, or hydrogenated oils.

They meet LJ’s criteria for snack foods:

  • They are YUMMY!!

The All-Natural Cheese Puffs and All-Natural Baked Fries contain half the fat of regular potato chips and Eat Your Vegetables have a full serving of vegetables in every ounce!  Not bad for a snack food, right??  Our personal favorite are the Grilled Cheese Puffs!
