Win a $500 Disney Gift Card

Anyone who knows me at all knows that I am a HUGE Disney fan!  After having visited Disney Land four times, this past spring I finally got the chance to check out Disneyworld. So magical. In between trips to the happiest place on Earth, I like to keep my Disneyside showing by visiting my local Disney Store.  It’s a great place to pick up gifts, grab the latest Disney DVD, or just soak in the atmosphere.

Just in case there are a few Disney fans out there (I know there are!!) I got together with a few other bloggers to giveaway a $500 Disney Gift Card.  I love these because you can use them for anything at any of the parks, in Downtown Disney or at your local Disney Store. Good luck and have a magical day!!

Imagination Foundation & #TheBoxtrolls Cardboard Challenge

One of the unfortunate by-products of all of this mandatory school testing is that teachers have so much less time to cover anything that won’t be on the state test. Where teachers used to have time to plan activities that fostered creativity and out-of-the-box thinking, they are not always able to cover these now. We try to create opportunities for Josh to learn about and experience these kinds of things so that his education will be as well rounded as possible.

I love that the Imagination Foundation is partnering with The Boxtrolls Movie to help create an opportunity for kids (and adults) to exercise their imaginations and enter The Cardboard Challenge!  The challenge encourages entrants to use cardboard to create unique crafts and projects – just like the Boxtrolls in the movie.  We had sooo much fun creating our own Boxtroll for the last contest and I can’t wait to see what Josh comes up with for this one. Entries will be accepted up until 9/29 so you still have plenty of time. Make sure you are sharing your cardboard creations on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #TheBoxtrollsCC to enter!

Our Boxtroll is starting to take shape…#TheBoxtrolls #BuildABoxtrollSweeps

I warned you guys that Josh and I would be making our own Boxtrolls to enter in the Build a Boxtrolls Sweeps, right? We decided this would be a fun end-of-summer craft project for us to do together. Once we decided we wanted to make Boxtrolls and enter, we had to decide what medium would be the best for us.

Since I can’t draw to save my life, we thought clay might be a good medium to use. Now, I haven’t worked with clay since high school but Josh did several clay projects last year and one was even chosen to be displayed at our local library as part of the art show. I took him along with me to Michael’s to help me pick out just the right clay.  He pointed to the Model Magic by Crayola and selected a neutral pack as well as a pack with primary colors.

Once we got home, we started trying to build Boxtroll heads, arms, and legs.  I found this to be much harder than it looks! Josh had his whole guy done while I was still working on the head of mine.

I’m not going to show you the finished product until next week. Are you going to be entering the contest as well? The prize is an all expense paid trip for four to LA for the premier of The Boxtrolls.  Wondering how to enter? It’s really easy! All you need to do is:

  • create an awesome Boxtroll of your own
  • snap a picture of it
  • share your picture on Twitter, Facebook, and/or Instagram with the hashtag #BuildABoxtrollSweep
  • No purchase necessary. 18+ years old. 50 US States + District of Columbia only. 8/4/14-9/5/14. Official rules.

The Boxtrolls is coming out 9/26!!

Win a Britax Advocate Car Seat #giveaway

Win A Britax Advocate Car Seat #giveawayWhen Josh was a baby, I did all kinds of research to find the very best and safest car seat for him. Every parent who had already been down this road (get it??) told me the same thing – Britax.  I might have had a little sticker shock when I first looked at the Britax selection at my favorite baby store, but once I compared the stats and how long he would be able to use it, I took the plunge and never regretted it. (For another mom’s view on why she loves Britax for her child, check out my friend Jesica’s review here.)

Anytime anyone asks me for my advice on car seats or booster seats, I always point them toward Britax even though Josh has been out of his for a few years now. That’s how much I loved them! If you’ve been looking at adding a Britax car seat to your vehicle, here is your chance to win one. I’m thrilled to partner with some of my favorite bloggers to offer this giveaway of a Britax Advocate Car Seat!!

Win a Ticket to Blended Conference in Arizona #BlendedConf

This spring, I went to Disneyland for the first time ever as part of the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration.  It was awesome.  While I was on the plane flying to LAX I received an email that a major brand wanted to use a recipe from my blog on their site.  Which was also awesome.  They wanted me to send them my headshot in the next 24 hours so it could be included in the post.  Which was not awesome because I only had my headshot on my hard drive of my desktop…at home…definitely not awesome. (Yes, I know – I have since loaded it into Dropbox so I have it everywhere.)

Luckily my amazing friend Kate Eschbach was also at the conference and volunteered to snap a quick picture of me that I could use as a headshot.  You have to understand that Kate is an amazing photographer – people make appointments and pay to have her take their picture, so I was feeling pretty blessed to have her offer to take mine. (Seriously – go check out some of her work on her Facebook page!) Of course, once I looked in the mirror and saw my jet-lagged, been-traveling-all-day, haven’t-adjusted-to-this-time-zone-yet face staring back, I held little hope that even Kate could make me look presentable.

Well, as usual, I was wrong.  Check it out.

Kate Eschbach Headshot

You may be wondering why I am telling you this story in a post that is supposed to be about how you can win a ticket to a blogging conference.  Well, here’s the connection.  Kate will be at Blended Conference in Arizona in October and she has openings to shoot a few headshots at the conference.  Now, the catch is that you have to actually GO to the conference to take advantage of this, but why wouldn’t you want to??

Blended may have started out as a conference for food bloggers, but it has since grown to a two day conference covering things that all bloggers need to know.  The speaker line up is fantastic including Maria Bailey (if you’ve never had the chance to hear her speak at one of her She Streams conferences or at a Disney Social Media Moms event, here is your chance!), Dan Morris who is the king of SEO and making actual money from your blog, Rachel Martin with advice and wisdom on how to create an ebook, Christine Pittman sharing her secrets of being a fab food stylist, Marly McMillen Beelman on mastering Pinterest, and yours truly talking about media kits.  Plus, Arizona in October is pretty much my idea of Heaven and flying into Phoenix is super easy and affordable! All of this adds up to a can’t-miss event…

The Wendys have been nice enough to provide me with a Blended Conference ticket to give away.  Enter below:

Good luck and I can’t wait to see you there!!
