Barilla Microwave Meals {Review and Giveaway}

With all of the time I spend at home, you would think I would be better at feeding myself decent meals.  I’m sure my friends picture me in the kitchen, whipping up some elaborate, gourmet meal for lunch ever day. (Okay, maybe not the ones who know me well…) Reality couldn’t be farther from the truth.  In fact, some days I look up from my computer and realize that it is almost time for the bus to let LJ off and for me to get dinner started.  Most days, I whip up a sandwich, bowl of soup, or something equally glamorous! Hey, it’s no fun putting all kinds of effort into a meal for just me.

But there are days where I’d love to have a real meal, something tasty and hearty, but just don’t feel like I have the time to actually cook something.  I love the idea of quick meals for one that can be fixed quickly in the microwave. No muss, no fuss, right? The problem is all of the yucky stuff that usually comes with them.  I’m talking about preservatives, empty calories and fat, chemicals – ugh!!

When I heard that Barilla (a brand I have loved for years and been fortunate enough to work with before) had come out with a line of microwave ready meals that promised great taste AND boasted no preservatives or other yucky stuff, I was anxious to give them a try!

I received five varieties of Barilla Microwavable Meals to try.  Several of the varieties have whole grain pasta (yay!!).  As you can see from the package, Barilla Microwaveable Meals have no preservatives, 100% natural ingredients, can be prepared in about 60 seconds, and are relatively low in calories (about 320 for the meal).  What you can’t see is that they also contain all of the great flavor and taste you’ve come to expect from Barilla.  I was thrilled to find that the pasta cooks up just like it’s fresh from the stove (how do they DO that???).

Add a salad and you’ve got a quick and tasty dinner!

But I know you, my dear readers.  You aren’t going to be convinced until you give it a try yourself.  Because of that, the nice folks at Barilla have sent along coupons for five free Barilla Microwave Meals just for one of you!  (That way you can experience all of the different varieties, just like we did.)
