Getting Healthier with #VitaminD from Nature Made #cbias

If you follow me on Facebook, you probably noticed that it seems like someone in my house is ALWAYS sick.  I had expected it last year, with LJ starting school full -time.  I did not expect that this year would be so bad and that I would catch every little thing as well!

The last check up I had, I mentioned this to my doctor.  Based on this information and my family history, she did a vitamin D test and I came up deficient.  Like REALLY deficient.  It was a bit of a shock to me since I drink a ton of milk, but she pointed out that my sun exposure is really minimal since I wear sunscreen on the rare occasion that the sun is even out.

She also explained to me that vitamin D is really an essential vitamin.  It is needed for your body to use the calcium you are giving it and, well, I'll let the experts explain it better!

I had some vitamin D in the house and she suggested I take a dose of 5,000 IUs once a week and then follow up with another test.  The second test indicated I should be taking closer to 10,000 IUs which was 10 capsules!

When I had the chance to shop for Nature Made vitamin D, I was eager to see what they had to offer.  I was hoping that they might have a higher dose tablet so I wouldn't have to keep taking ten at once.  I was also hoping that they might have a kid version since LJ has been sick A LOT this year (and it's only November!).

Walmart has a great vitamin selection.
I found the vitamin D section easily.
I decided on the 5000 IU bottle.
Now THAT'S easier to swallow!!
See all the photos from my shop here.

I highly recommend getting your vitamin D level tested. It's a simple, almost painless test and can help you to avoid some pretty serious complications later. What I am taking is a pretty high dose - you should consult your doctor before starting any new
supplements for your own personal treatment plan.

Taking high doses of supplements and vitamins can result in nasty side effects and permanent harm if not done correctly.. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias

  1. or you can get your Vitamin D for free by going out early in the morning or late in the afternoon and bask in the sun :)

  2. My vitamin D level was 8 when I started monitoring it about a year ago. was given 50000 IU once a week prescription for 13 weeks. I am on this regime again after a long time of 4000 a day. But I believe my level at last check was in the 40s. I use the nature made as well for my non prescription doses.

  3. Many folks (such as myself) are not able to get enough vitamin D from the sun alone. Also, with a family history of skin cancer, that is not the safest option for me.
