Okay, NOW it's getting personal!!

Any one who does any work outside either in their garden or lawn has probably had experience with weeds that are difficult to get rid of. They keep coming back, testing your patience, until they eventually take on a sinister feel and become your own personal nemesis.

I have met my nemesis this year. Its name is Charlie. Also known as "Creeping Charlie", its technical name is Glechoma hederacea. It is a member of the mint family, which explains why it is so difficult to get rid of.

We've been battling Charlie for a number of years now, but this year he has decided to make it personal. Not only did he take out my lavender plant (the only one of four that has managed to survive several Wisconsin winters) but he has declared war on my chrysanthemums. The chrysanthemums that grew at my grandmother's house in CT for years and then spent time at my parents' house in PA before they moved out here and found a home next to my garage.

Back off Charlie. You're not taking my chrysanthemums, at least not without a fight. I may have slacked of for a bit with the weeding when I wasn't feeling well, but I'm better now and I've been Googling you. I am going into battle armed with advice from the lawn doctor and an arsenal of chemicals.

You are going DOWN.

This post rocks. I so know how you feel. In Southern California, we battle with pepper trees, that never, ever go away, even when you uproot them.
They must be met with resistance!

I'm betting you win this one. Charlie's ass is grass. Hmmmm, he's a weed, so howzabout Charlie's bed is dead.
